On dated 15th December, 2016 a State Level Workshop on Sharing of best practices under the project “Advocating for Changes for People with Disability in South East Asia-Phase-ii” has been organized by Ekta, Koraput with the support of Handicap International & BMZ.  The objective of the workshop was to sharing the best practices of Disable Peoples Organization (DPO) members of Koraput, Rayagada and Khordha districts under the implementation of project. Similarly, some key suggestions cum recommendations have been presented before the Guests for effective implementation and easy access of Govt. Program and Policy.

On this occasion, a booklet entitled “Ama Jojana Ama Adhikar” on various govt. schemes and programs related to People with Disability, fact sheet related to recommendations for solution of problems, Best practices in the field areas and a sticker related to the benefits of Persons with Disabilities have been inaugurated by the Guests.

Mr. Niten Chandra, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Social Security and Empowerment of the Person with Disability inaugurated the workshop as Chief Guest by lighting the lamps.  Mr. Ram Kishore Sharma, Assistant Director, Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for Handicapped (VRCH), Bhubaneswar, Mr. Mansi Nimbhal, IAS, Director, Department of Social Security & Empowerment of the Person with Disability, Dr. Minati Behera, State Commissioner of Persona with Disabilities, Mr. Ahyan Shandilya, Country Coordinator, Handicap International, New Delhi & Mr. Jagannath Mishra, Secretary of Ekta were presented as Guests in the workshop. All the invited guests were assured to give all possible support and cooperation in the greater interest of the people with disabilities.  And, they expected all to take the benefits of various departments that has been available at different levels.

102 Disable Peoples Organization (DPO) members from Koraput, Rayagada and Khordha districts, representatives from State Orthopaedic Association, Blind Association, District Social Security Officers and Block Social Security Officers of Koraput and Rayagada district, Development Consultants, representatives from Civil Society Organizations and Media Persons were participated in the workshop. Some of the DPO members of these districts have shared their experience & change in their lives while associating in this project.  Ekta management and staff members were facilitated in the workshop.
