The project for Sustainable agriculture in rainfed farming systems are being implemented at 6 blocks in Koraput district of Odisha. The project has supported by International Center for Agriculture Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) towards promotion of Pulses and Cactus from 1st November, 2018. Different verities of pulses are being introduced in the farmers land in 36 villages of 9 GPs in Jeypore, Borigumma and Kotpad blocks. Similarly spineless cactus (Opuntia ficus indica) is also promoted in 24 villages of 6 GPs in Koraput, Dasmantpur and Laxmipur block.Spineless cactus is a drought resilient feed resource to enhance livelihood of poor livestock holders. The farmers are being provided seeds, pesticide, technical support and agricultural equipment through the members of Village Seeds Hub.
