"A healthy community is an empowered community—where access, inclusion, and care create a foundation for dignity and well-being."

We believe that good health is the foundation for a dignified life. Our health initiatives focus on ensuring accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for marginalized communities, particularly persons with disabilities, children, women, and individuals with mental illness.

We work towards preventive, promotive, and curative healthcare through community-based interventions, mobile health camps, and awareness programs. Our approach includes early diagnosis, maternal and child health support, nutrition programs, and mental health rehabilitation.

Through partnerships with local healthcare providers and government schemes, we bridge gaps in healthcare accessibility and promote inclusive health services in inaccessible and remote pockets. Our Community health Programs ensure that individuals receive timely care, support for a holistic and sustainable well-being.

Our Health Programs

1. Health is Wealth – Mobile Health Unit (Arogya Plus)

Access to primary healthcare remains a significant challenge in the remote and scattered villages of Boipariguda and Pottangi blocks under Koraput district, Odisha. To bridge this gap, Ekta has launched the “Health is Wealth” Mobile Health Unit under the Arogya Plus initiative, ensuring essential healthcare services reach the most underserved communities.

This initiative focuses on:

  • Providing primary healthcare services at the doorstep of marginalized populations.
  • Early screening and diagnosis of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
  • Maternal and child health support, including antenatal and postnatal care.
  • Preventive healthcare awareness on hygiene, nutrition, healthcare services and immunization.
  • Referral services for critical cases requiring specialized medical attention.

With a dedicated team of Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, and Community Health Workers, the Mobile Health Unit is committed to delivering quality healthcare, reducing out-of-pocket expenses, and promoting overall well-being in these remote villages.

Through Health is Wealth, we aim to create a healthier, empowered, and self-sufficient rural community, ensuring that geographical barriers do not limit access to essential healthcare services and facilities.

2. Targeted Intervention on HIV/AIDS

HIV/AIDS remains a significant public health concern, especially among Female Sex Workers (FSWs) and Migrant Laborers, who are among the most vulnerable groups due to high-risk behavior and limited access to healthcare services. To address this, Ekta is implementing a Targeted Intervention (TI) program across Koraput, Semiliguda, and Pottangi blocks with special focus on Sunabeda & Damonjodi peripheries of Koraput district to provide prevention, care, and support services.

Key Objectives of the Project:

  • HIV/AIDS Awareness & Prevention: Educating high-risk groups on safe practices, STI prevention, and risk reduction strategies.
  • Health Services & Testing: Providing free HIV screening, STI treatment, and referral services through designated health centers.
  • Counseling & Psychosocial Support: Offering confidential counseling to empower individuals and reduce stigma.
  • Condom Promotion & Distribution Ensuring access to free condoms to promote safe sexual practices.
  • Linkage to Government Schemes: Connecting beneficiaries to ART (Antiretroviral Therapy) centers and social protection programs.

By engaging with community-based peer educators, healthcare providers, and local stakeholders, the program enhances access to critical health services, promotes safer behavior, and strengthens the fight against HIV/AIDS in marginalized communities.

Through Targeted Intervention, Ekta is committed to reducing HIV prevalence, breaking the stigma, and ensuring a healthier future for vulnerable populations in Koraput district.

3. Transit Migrant Health & Well-being Initiative

Migration is a crucial livelihood strategy for many individuals, yet transit migrants face significant health, safety, and social challenges. Many migrant workers travel through Koraput and neighboring regions in search of employment, often lacking access to healthcare, sanitation, and social protection. To address these critical issues, Ekta has initiated a Transit Migrant Support Program to ensure health, dignity, and rights for migrating populations especially at railway station and bus stands.

Key Objectives of the Project:
  • Health & Medical Support: Providing basic healthcare services, STI prevention, and HIV/AIDS screening for transit migrants.
  • Awareness & Risk Reduction: Educating migrants on occupational health, hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
  • Counseling & Mental Health Support: Addressing stress, trauma, and psychosocial issues among migrants through counseling and referrals.
  • Access to Social Schemes & Legal Aid: Linking migrants to government welfare schemes, social security benefits, and legal support.
  • Safe Mobility & Shelter Support: Ensuring safe transit facilities, emergency shelter, and protection against exploitation.
Impact & Outreach:

Operating across Koraput, Semiliguda, and Pottangi blocks, this initiative focuses on seasonal laborers, daily wage earners, and vulnerable migrant groups. By collaborating with local authorities, transport hubs, and labour welfare organizations, Ekta strives to build a safer, healthier, and more resilient migrant community.

Through this program, Ekta is ensuring that no migrant is left behind, empowering them with knowledge, healthcare, and protection as they navigate their journey.
